NEW YORK - Life is a TV show for Brody Jenner.
At 21, he sold a reality show to FOX. Now, at 25, he's a regular on "The Hills" and friends with its star, Lauren Conrad, while cameras follow his father, Olympic decathlon gold medalist Bruce Jenner, on "Keeping up With the Kardashians."
Brody Jenner currently stars in his own MTV show "Bromance," where a group of guys compete to be his new BFF.
Jenner recently talked about his TV life. He says he may be best known as a guy who gets filmed hanging out but it takes work to make that happen — and he has fun doing it.
AP: Are you really going to hang out with the winner of "Bromance"?
Jenner: Absolutely. It actually sucks because I can't hang out with him right now while the show is airing because then people will know who I picked.
AP: You're obviously a good looking guy. Some guys say that if they were as good looking as you, they wouldn't ever want to settle down. What do you say about that?
Jenner: Finding a relationship is a lot harder than in the past. People thinking they really know you is hard. They don't know me. They see me on television but do they really know me? No. Going and hooking up with girls and doing that whole thing is fine for a little while but I love something more genuine.
AP: Have you ever been rejected by a girl?
Jenner: Yeah! My girlfriend now totally rejected me but it was great. I love that.
AP: What do you say to those fans who are obsessed with the idea of you and Lauren Conrad getting together?
Jenner: People need to get over that. Lauren and I are just friends and I think it's good we're friends. I love her to death ... but we're just friends and that's how we'll keep it.
AP: And what's up with Spencer Pratt? (Jenner and Pratt had a falling out on "The Hills" over Conrad. Jenner and Conrad are friends; Pratt and Conrad dislike each other.)
Jenner: Me and Spencer are cool. We'll never be the kind of friends that we were but we are still friends. I still consider him a close friend. I'm not the kind of person that holds grudges, so I'll always keep a place in my heart for Spencer.
AP: For a reality show star, you don't seem to be into "drama."
Jenner: When I was 17 years old I got a DUI. It was probably the worst thing that's ever happened to me in my entire life but at the same time the best. ... I learned to be positive: Always try to find a way to spin the positive; celebrate while you're alive; don't hold grudges, have drama; smile and appreciate life.
AP: What's the biggest misconception about you?
Jenner: That I don't work. People say, "Oh, Brody is this guy who spends his parents money and he dates these famous girls." I've worked my butt off to get where I'm sitting.
AP: Do you read the blogs and the gossip magazines?
Jenner: Yeah. I go on it, I read it, I laugh.
AP: Does it get hard — you can't go to lunch without being photographed?
Jenner: Yes, there are times where it's uncomfortable. You don't feel like having it around but these people are just trying to make their money too. I can't sit here and say that's wrong. Actors, actresses, reality stars, they signed up for it.

Can't believe it is the Finale next week already.....Just watched last night's episode - hilarious!!! You guys must have had so much fun doing this, planning everything etc. So, pretty soon we will know.....hopefully you will get to do a second season of Bromance!!!

I love your show. Last nights episode was Hilarious! I was sorry to see Alex go though. I really hope the one you picked treats you with respect and really wants to be your friend and not just use you to become famous. You seem like a really good person. Always honest and sincere. Hey Brody...I'm not much for leaving comments on a celebrity's page, but I just wanted to say I admire how you stick up for yourself in saying that you do work and very hard at that. Most people get the wrong impression about others and dont realize how hard it is to be someone of your stature. I came from nothing to owning my own business at 25 and I have elders of mine look down upon me because they are threatened by me or they way I look. It's hard to keep your head up and to move forward when others are out there trying to bring you down. Keep up the good work that you're doing no matter what these people on here say... xoxo Ash
